The Commune of Campagnac-les-Quercy is located in the geographical area of what is now known as the IGP Perigord - Vin de Domme, in the south of the Perigord Noir. In the 1950s the area was occupied by around 70 small mixed farms, each of approximately 5 to 10 hectares.
Our farm, "Pouchou", in Campagnac-les-Quercy, was one of these holdings and at that time produced 15 to 20 hectolitres of Malbec-based table wine, some of which was sold in barrels.
In 1995, with the support of local representative Germinal Peiro, several farmers from neighbouring Florimont-Gaumier replanted a vineyard of noble vines capable of producing quality wines. This momentum proved highly beneficial for a region that is difficult to farm traditionally and it enabled the re-cultivation of increasing numbers of hectares.
The lands of Pouchou, which had been converted to meadows in the 1970s, were replanted in 2009 with Chardonnay after soil analysis showed that Campagnac had a geology very close to that of Grand Chablis. This choice allows a diversified range alongside the wines of the Cave de Domme, with whom we maintain privileged relations, while making our own wines in our cellar under the IGP Perigord - Vin de Domme designation.
From the outset we chose to work in organic farming. The first parcel replanted at Pouchou was called Chante l'Oiseau, and it gave its name to the Domaine.
